Rain

I love it!  I love being out in it (especially if I’m prepared for it) but most of all I love the sound of it.  The past two mornings have found me waking to the sound and sight of rain.

So for my enjoyment:

That Blanket

Is Finished!!!!!

After 4 months and only doing it in spurts I’ve finished it – my sister can now safely have the baby.

Phew!  I didn’t anything from the post below just sat and finished this – I’m stiff from sitting all day 😦

Life

Sunday Bliss

I’m having a lovely morning.  Himself has gone to the bookshop for the day so I’m home alone.  Yesterday we put up the net curtains in the front windows of the livingroom – as himself said it only took us four years! (ok not strictly true)  So I’m uploading CDs to my iTunes/iPod and while that is all happening I’m sitting in the living room in my PJs with the curtains open and working on THE blanket while Sunday Life is on the telly to be followed by Country File.

I know I have a few things to do around the place during the day but I think the first piece of ‘work’ I’m going to do is clear my desk completely and pick a jigsaw to work on.  After that the housework will fit in between the jigsaw pieces.

You know I have to admit that the day I have planned for myself sounds just lovely – the big question will be will it turn out that way.

(Inspirational idea – I can watch a DVD on the computer while doing the jigsaw – it’s always nice to have something on in the background)

The Forgotten Meme

I’m terrible – I was tagged a while ago and never got around to doing it – I’m not admitting I forgot but we’ll leave it in the air 🙂

So courtesy of Domestic Miss – A Sweet And Sour Slice Of Life :

The Rules: each player answers the questions. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 or 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

1. What I was doing 10 years ago:

1998   –  I was working for an insurance company and my sister was living in London so the plan was to quit my job and go live with her for 6 months and do tourist by day bar work by night.  That didn’t go according to plan as I was offered a job in the Post Office so I sacrificed carefree for security and 10 years on I’m still there.

2. What 5 things are on on my to-do list for today (in no particular order):

  1. count points – long live weight watchers
  2. Clear the table for it to be dismantled
  3. do more work on sisters blanket
  4. have a bath
  5. fill out application for new job

3. Snacks I enjoy:

Will eat almost anything except smelly cheese – however give me CHOCOLATE and I’ll love you forever

4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire:

  • quit work – and not apply for new job as mentioned above
  • move house
  • help husband open a second hand bookshop – actually does that count as working?
  • live off the interest

5. Places I have lived in:

Waterford, Ireland

Dublin, Ireland

Ok I’m supposed to tag people but I don’t really know who to tag – so to change it a little if anybody wants to pick this meme and run with it leave me a comment so I can go visit your answers.

Blanket update

Well I’m really proud of myself – I’ve 11 rows left (not counting border)  I wonder what is on the telly tomorrow night?  Ooops can’t crochet tomorrow as we’re going to see The Dark Knight -hoorah!  So telly for Wednesday – I must investigate.

Back to the blanket – I’ve started the last diamond row – I have the bottom bobble row completed and I’ve one more row to complete the second bobble row.  As mentioned I’m really proud – expect a photo next week hopefully of a completed blanket.

Bedtime!

Sisters Blanket

Ok I’ve about 18rows and a border left on my sisters white blanket and 25/27 days left to finish it.  Yes it’s doable but will I?  I’ve been putting this off for I don’t know how long – eek and time is running out.

With that in mind I’m going to watch the end of University Challenge, Chinese Food Made Easy & New Tricks down in the bedroom where it is a cat and clutter free zone and hopefully there I will get some of those rows completed. I shall update my progress at the end of this session.

Jigsaws

This really is just a reminder for myself – to make sure my desk is fully cleared so that I can put out my jigsaw board – I have bought several but since we got the kittens (who are now almost 2) but I don’t think I’ve made any.  No I tell a lie – I did finish the one I had on the go when they arrived.  It was slow going because of:
I can help

and

pip2

It tends to bring your jigsaw career to a careering halt.

I Love Broadband

Our broadband went last Wednesday so we had not internets.  Well until I remembered that my little baby, the iBook had dial up on it!  Ok how did we ever survive with dial up?  I know that the pages were a lot more basic and didn’t have as much to load up but there were times when I was convinced that it was broken!  There are a few blogs that I read and they can be photo heavy and take a while to load with a high-speed connection so the last few days I’ve been reading the blogs but it’s only now that I get to see the pictures that go with the stories.

On the other hand I realised that we tend to spend a lot of time on the computers and the week off so to speak was a bit of a relief.  It’s like me on a Friday – I tend to turn my mobile off.  Generally I don’t turn my phone off as that would mean finding it and all that but I do it on a Friday – my way of welcoming in the weekend and making sure that nobody rings me on Saturday morning.  Ha ha when you think of it – nobody would ring your landline too early as that would wake the whole household but they would blithely ring you mobile.  Anyway I’m wandering now – yes a few days off did us no harm but when it came back on Monday (for my Birthday and because I’d just arranged for an engineer to come out) I just couldn’t wait to get home after work just to see how the world functions without me.  Apparently just fine it seems but I’m glad to be back.
