I’m watching Persuasion, yet again. The version with Ciarán Hinds, it’s my ultimate comfort (the book is also a comfort). However, it reminds me that earlier this week I was a bit snooty and it rebounded.
I bought a ticket to see Deirdre O’Kane next year in September. I knew I’d bought a ticket for 2027. This week an email arrived in my inbox in relation to the gig – I thought it was to say it was cancelled or something, but no it was to say they’d had several enquiries about the gig and this was a reminder that it wasn’t that evening but in fact next year. I was so smug in my superiority because I knew what I had booked and when it was on.
Later that day another email landed from The Abbey Theatre – a play with Paul Mescal (possibly the main draw) is on in October. Well I was on that site like a bullet because Paul Mescal will be joined by Ciarán Hinds – Oh Yes!! Couldn’t for the life of me find the play or the option for tickets – I was a good 5 to 10 minutes scouring the site before I went back to the site and saw that it’s October 2027 and the tickets won’t go on sale ’til the new year. It’s fair to say that I felt like a right wally after that.
I think I’m going to have to keep an eye out for the release date because I’ve a feeling that the tickets will sell like hot cakes.
