Housework By Headless Chicken

Well we’re almost off.  I finished work for the week yesterday and himself is finishing up today.  However it just seems like one of those weeks that never really started.  The plan had been to do a one chore an evening to make sure the place was ready for my mother who will be staying to mind our moggies.  However time in between work just seems to vanish and today I find myself trying to get it all done.  I know in the title it says headless chicken but I’m taking my time really and not getting too fussed.  The no problemo chores will be the bathroom and dining room – however the bedroom does look a mess so that will take some tackling.  Ah well as I’ve said before there is nothing better then a bath & clean bed covers coinciding and tonight I’m having a bath to relax.  Actually when I say tonight it will be more likely to be evening as we are heading tomorrow morning at 4.30 (ish)  so a definite early to bed.

I’d better dash as I’ve a few things to pick up down at the shops.  Roll on this time tomorrow when we are strolling around the streets of Paris.

Dublins First Vintage Fair

And I can’t go!!! Boo!!!!

I came across this & this and reading through it I though that looked good it’s a pity we’ve missed it.  I was reading it out aloud and himself thought it sounded good too.  That means we keep an eye out for the next time it’s on.  Hold on I’ve been reading it all wrong it’s on tomorrow – therefore we can’t go as he is still to sore after his operation and his parents are coming out to visit.  Well I’m blowing raspberries at my tomorrow.  On the other hand I have Madeira cake and I bought I bought a pack of my favourite biccies – fruit shortcake – actually they are lidl ones so I think they’re called fruit shorties.

I regretted missing the fair when I thought it had already been on but now I sorely regret missing it as I will be doing so in real time 😦

On a brighter note I excavated my desk (some how it now has different junk on it)  and I came across one or two books that I had put aside to be read and they eventually disappeared in amongst the ‘stuff’  so after the quick run around on the house tomorrow I’ll be free to relax and read to my hearts content.

Preparing for the new arrival

NO! it’s not what you’re thinking. Our telly is trying to decide when it’s going to stop working and in what fashion. It was simply a stroke of luck that my parents were thinking of getting a new telly so they have offered us their old one. When I say old it could be what – 2 possibly 3 years old – max. The only thing is it is somewhat bigger then the one we have now. It’s a 40 something inch screen so that means a furniture rearrangement and that includes the cats chair. It will be good to have it in and installed ’cause himself is going into hospital next week to get his appendix out and at least now he can lie out on the sofa and have the really big telly to watch.
At the moment I have most of the windows and doors open – when we came home yesterday a tom cat had sprayed our front door and as there is a gap at the bottom the stench made it into the house. Ok we have 4 cats there is bound to some sort of a smell of cat every once in a while but this was revolting! If I could catch the cat I’d be tempted to take it to the vets and get a little jobbie done on it.
Anyway I’m sorting through some books and paperwork that’s lying around the living room and then I’ve to start on the dinner.
I thought that Sundays were supposed to be a day of rest? A days work (well part of anyway) and then it’s work tomorrow! Ah well such is life.

Mothers Day ’09

I woke up this morning with a sore throat and a raging headache. However I had told Mam that I would go with her to the shops so up and out we went. She is making wedding invites for my cousin so we were out looking at various colours for various types of paper. I think she will have her work cut out for her as she couldn’t find the exact stuff she was looking for. Mind you if I know Mam she will fiddle around and come up with something that will turn out to absolutely perfect.
Anyway we’re back from the shops and she is after heading home as my sister & niece are going out to their (mam & dad) house for dinner. My word but the niece fondly called the fairy is now sitting up by herself. Himself yesterday was asking what age are they (babies) when they get hair? She does look a little scarce but it’s thick enough on top and the colour is darkening so at least you can see hair – up ’til now she was really fair and you couldn’t see it from a distance. Can you tell I’m absolutely besotted with her? When I find my wire for the ‘phone I’ll post a picture of her from yesterday.
As for me and the rest of the day? Well I think I’m going to spend most of it stretched out on the sofa. I did loads of work around the house yesterday and between that and the aforementioned headache I don’t see my self doing anything other the watching Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. I think crochet might just aggravate my poor head.
Mind you I’ll have to get dinner started sometime later – himself has had to work today so I get peace & quiet 🙂 Normally we’d go out and have adventures but I’m not really up to it so now I don’t have to be a spoil sport.
Better go as they’ve just kidnapped the girls!

Brain Melt

I’ve been subscribing to a few blogs lately and the RSS feed gives me the last 25 posts.  This is fantastic and had LOADS of lovely pictures so I’m having a great time looking at the with awe and envy.  There was one picture I saw that had a set of shelves in them just beneath a window and they were white.  They almost looked like they were for a childrens room.  Do you think I can remember where it was I spotted this picture?  My poor brain is melting and all I want to do is show himself the picture as I reckon something similar would be nice next to the dresser.  It would be somewhere for the cookery and craft books to go.

I think I’ll have to go to bed as my brain is now refusing to function.

Book Buying

Well we went on our first book buying session of 2009 and I think I came away with one or two nice things – well five to be precise.  I managed to pick up the following:

Battles at Thrush Green
Lark Rise
Toast
The Second Irish Christmas Book
The Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady

However the absolute treasure of the day came from my Mother-in-law:
Christmas Recipes
I’m looking forward to sitting down and picking out things to make from this as I reckon it could be good fun and to top it off the book is beautifully done – the book is “written out in manuscript form and illustrated”.

On a slightly non-book related purchase – we picked up a duster made from ostrich feathers – it is so funky! It is funny how the little things can make you happy – just the thought of not having to sweep the ceilings – who would have thought it! So now I’m off to dance with my feathers – woohoo!
