Music To Sooth The Soul

Good Morning!  I’m awake ridiculously early on an Easter morning – well early for me considering I’m not getting an easter egg 😦  BTW it’s not really ridiculously early – I woke at about 7 turned on the box and have rested.  I know it’s scandalous to have the telly on at the hour of the morning but I use it for the radio – brilliant signal and no fiddling with bands or dials.  This morning I started with BBC Radio 4 then flicked over to BBC7 sorry it’s not 7 any more I think it’s called BBC4 Extra – anyway then I remembered/realised it was Sunday and that meant Gloria on Lyric FM.

Gloria is a programme I could fall asleep to – and I don’t mean that as an insult – what I do mean is that the music is so beautiful that it relaxes me – I don’t know what it is about the choral music it is just so…  I don’t really have the words  – so I suppose the music is doing exactly what it was supposed to do.  Anyway I’d better go as I only have another 38 minutes left of the programme and I do so love to listen (although it does make great background music too!)

BTW this is what I’m having for Easter instead of an egg: Yummy!

Ashes To Ashes

I have to admit that I didn’t really watch Life On Mars – but have watched Ashes to Ashes from the beginning – I might go back to Mars but we’ll see. Anyway yesterday we got to see the first episode and the second episode which was on yesterday evening.  All I can say Why didn’t we record it???  The opening sequence was simply great.   I like the song Uptown Girl – ok so Billy Joel in the video looks a little bit scary but what harm?  Anyway yesterday in true 80s style we had Gene Hunt and Uptown Girl – Fan-tastic!!

and just in case you want the original here it is:

embedding is disabled on that one.

Anyway I will be returning to watch this post a fair bit in the future as it really tickles me and if I need a laugh this will be the place to go.

Music

I haven’t bought music in I don’t know how long.  I don’t know why but I haven’t intentionally listened to music in a longtime.

Today I have remedied this.  I went out and bought a CD!  I hope you were all sitting down for that little revelation.  Anyway what did I buy you might be wondering.  Well I got an album called “My One And Only Thrill” by Melody Gardot. I have it playing as I type and for some unknown reason she reminds me of a female version of a young Sinatra – If that makes any sense.
When we were in Bradford last weekend there was an advert on the telly for the album and her latest single and I thought – well why not – it will be either be good or it won’t. So far it’s worth it I’m getting nicely lulled.
Here is the latest video: Baby I’m A Fool
