I know I’ve mentioned this before but I absolutely love going to the library – so much so that I’m a member in two different council areas (for locals it’s Dublin City Council & Fingal Council) It really is a great resource – I have one on my doorstep in work – all expressions aside it really is on the other side of the street from the office! – How cool is that!!! The only negative thing I can think of about it is it’s a bit dark but that’s only compared to the other two that I would frequent – Blanchardstown & Malahide. The Malahide one is that one I’d be pass by every week when I go to WW so last night we were a bit early so in we went! I Love Love Love it! and came out with two books (Rebecca Shaw) & two DVDs – A Very Long Engagement (himself loves Audrey Tautau & I missed the last 15mins of the film) and the other was a boxset of The Young Ones. Now that is what I consider a haul of opposites – gentle books about a village idyl, a french film & I’m not really sure what you could say to describe The Young Ones briefly – comedy?
I’m in seventh heaven when it comes to Libraries – you can go in pick out a book you want to read but don’t particularly want to buy or a book you’re not too sure about and give it a go – if you don’t have space for the books well that’s OK they have to be returned so no need to break out the Ikea catalogue to get more Billy bookcases. The same goes for DVDs, audiobooks, computer games and even magazines! Basically this stuff is all free so long as you give it back when you’re finished with it!
It’s funny – I remember when I was little going on the bus over to Malahide to the library – I would go upstairs to the childrens section and it was such a big day when I got my new ticket which allowed me to take things out of the adults library – the joy of that was that you could take out even more books if you were taking them from the childrens library 🙂 On one or two occassions (possibly a lot more) we went over to the one in Donaghmede SC but my overriding memory of that one was round – I don’t know why maybe there was seating arranged in a circle or something but anyway round it is!
So my next question is – what am I doing on here? I should put the kettle on and settle into the book I got the other day – Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand – it really is lovely 🙂

Good Morning! I’m awake ridiculously early on an Easter morning – well early for me considering I’m not getting an easter egg 😦 BTW it’s not really ridiculously early – I woke at about 7 turned on the box and have rested. I know it’s scandalous to have the telly on at the hour of the morning but I use it for the radio – brilliant signal and no fiddling with bands or dials. This morning I started with BBC Radio 4 then flicked over to BBC7 sorry it’s not 7 any more I think it’s called BBC4 Extra – anyway then I remembered/realised it was Sunday and that meant Gloria on Lyric FM.
Gloria is a programme I could fall asleep to – and I don’t mean that as an insult – what I do mean is that the music is so beautiful that it relaxes me – I don’t know what it is about the choral music it is just so… I don’t really have the words – so I suppose the music is doing exactly what it was supposed to do. Anyway I’d better go as I only have another 38 minutes left of the programme and I do so love to listen (although it does make great background music too!)

I have to admit that I wasn’t holding out much hope for yesterday as it was a Monday. All you really want to do is just get through it and move on with the week. However when MB got into work she had a date for her surgery (for carpal tunnel) and it was the same day that was mooted for himself – eek! Anyway I got on the ‘phone and gave himself a bell – get the date confirmed!!! So he did (kindda) it will be confirmed today but it is going to be next week – I’m thrilled. Ha Ha it seems I get to read my magazine after all! – I’d bought Country Living to read while waiting around the hospital last week but of course that was cancelled so didn’t get to read it – roll on next week for some lovely bliss.
Anyway back to yesterday – Himself has finally finished writing his book – ok he still has a bit more work to do – indexing, bibliography, etc but the hard research & conclusion is over and done with. He is sooo relieved to have it done and I’m really really proud of him! So we’re off out for dinner sometime over the next week just to celebrate book & surgery. In the mean time I’m trying to think of something I can get himself to say well done – and unfortunately my head is drawing a blank.
Well I can’t stay here any longer – I’ve to go to work 😦

However the best time to listen to them is just before going to sleep.
There is nothing more relaxing than hearing a voice talking in the background. Please note it’s hearing a voice not necessarily listening to it – that requires too much concentration and would only keep me awake – that is why the choice of programme is very important.
Tonight I don’t think it will be BBC7 as there is some comedy on and I might be inclined to listen so I think it’s going to be “The World Tonight”, a bit of the “Book at Bedtime” and if I am still awake it’s “With Great Pleasure” – mind you if I’m still awake by B@B there must be something wrong.
Anyway I’ve to go and settle in for a nights listening – I’d better not forget to set the timer – last time I’d done that I was listening to Classic FM and I woke to the sound of whispering in the room – I got such a fright I couldn’t go back to sleep which totally defeated the point of putting on some lovely relaxing music to fall asleep to 🙂

Why oh Why can’t I just let a gadget be released without having to get it? I bought an iPad with it first came out and I have to admit that I absolutely love it! – I don’t have internet access in work so it’s handy to have hiding away in the handbag 🙂 So with my trusty iPad in tow I was in HMV yesterday to buy a proper cover – I got one when I took delivery of the baby but never got around to getting a proper one. Anyway I spotted a poster saying ask about the 3DS and they will give you a demonstration (woohoo) – so on to my adventures with Nintendos 🙂
When I was little (- I’d like to say younger but as we’re talking decades I’ll plump for little) a friend from around the corner had Donkey Kong and I loved it! However when Santa decided to get me DK I was almost played out so I robbed my sisters Mario Bros.
So I played away for many a day and when I moved out I rediscovered both – teehee – you really can lose yourself in those games! However when I say rediscovered it does mean they were put away for a few years 😦 I wasn’t taken by subsequent game consoles after all we had computers – mind you we weren’t totally game orientated either so I don’t know what it was that made me get a DSLite! – at the time the colours were limited so I got myself a lovely black one.
Of course they then released a few in different colours
but I have one so I couldn’t really go out and get a different coloured one – could I? Well I am a bit good and didn’t – so back to yesterday and a 3DS – what to do??? they will only have them in shiny blue or ‘cosmos black’ but I can get a discount if I trade in my (or his DSL) – eek! my usual behaviour would see me running in tomorrow with my money for a deposit and I’d have a new toy! but no!!! I’m going to wait – teehee! I love the colour red and they have previously released a red DSL so what are the chances of a red 3DS? Well google is my friend and I’m going to hold onto my cash until I see these on the shelves:
Amn’t I good? For once I’m not being impulsive – although I’ve never regretted being so!
In the mean time I’m just going to have to play with all of my other gadgets – or maybe I might just get a move on with my neglected mountains of wool & projects.Actually I have a camera I still haven’t gotten to grips with!!!!!

I know I’ve been missing the Saturday morning crafting lately but I’ve been making the most of having the place to myself – mind you I did go the other week and there was only me and another girl there but we had loads of fun – I got a few lines done on my jumper (which is being sadly neglected) and I tried to install anti-virus on her laptop – to be honest I could have spent hours trying to sort out the laptop – I say hours simply ’cause I hadn’t a clue and I’d be determined not to be beaten.
ANYWAY! I must do better- however I will now be splitting my time between crafting out here (Tyrrelstown) & in Portmarnock. My mother and several of her friends have set up a craft circle for the 3rd Saturday of the month.

I have to admit that I’m really looking forward to next Saturday – however himself is due to go into hospital on Tuesday and won’t be that long out – as I rather horridly pointed out he’d better be well enough to make himself coffee ’cause I’ll be gone for a few hours. I know I’m mean – but if he’s not well enough I’ll just have to give it a miss for this month – hohum.

I love my morning break!
There are two decisions to be made – will I have 1 or 2 slices of toast? and what will I read?
I know I could go up to the staff canteen but there are times with the noise levels are unbelievable and there are othertimes when you don’t have a choice about who sits with you or who you sit with. This 20minute (30 if I’m honest) break out into my own little world is so peaceful that it is worth the the extra few cent.
So along comes 11am and I toddle off for my tea and toast. The routine is usually the same – hi to the regulars and then its sitting down – have a quick look at twitter and when the tray arrives with my goodies it’s away with the tech – marmalade and iPads are not a good mix! and it’s out with the book or magazine.
There are no interruptions so it is simply wonderful to lose yourself for that short while in the middle of a busy working day.

I’ve started a cross-stitch project even though I’m not finished with the snowflake throw 😦 I was given the kit a while ago and it’s been asked after on a number of occasions so I’ve decided to do it and get it over with. Sometimes I get the impression that I might have to give it back once it’s completed – however I don’t know we’ll just have to wait and see. My major grumble is the fact that joy has been taken out of it – the sooner it’s done the better.
Anyway I know I’m saying the joy is gone but probably an exaggeration ’cause when I’m doing it I know I’ll enjoy it. Hohum!!
Anyway time to finish sorting out the threads – sorry to be grumbly! -
Well the end of the year is almost here and I am giving lots of thought to crafts for next year. As I type I am absolutely itching to stitch but I’m making a throw and I’m determined to finish it. In fairness I should have finished it AGES ago but as per usual it was put down – no that’s a lie – I didn’t put it down I did carry it around with me and did nothing else with it.
So the plan is finish the throw and and then look in to the big bag of patterns/kits I just so happened to buy at the knitting & stitching show in October. I should probably stop putting temptation in my way by looking up patterns on the internet – but they really are soo yummy. I think I will gently ease myself into stitching with a few biscornu – no shush! I’m getting distracted from my remaining 9 snowflakes – sure after that there’s only the background – it will be lovely for Christmas just which one??? -
Well it seems that I’ve picked the best week to be off. Again the busses are out of action so woohoo when I say no walk home! However even though I haven’t really been out and about I do have some soup on the go – I think it’s a weight watchers recipe but to be honest it is yummy.
Chop and dice a butternut squash, a large potato & a leek.
Chop some garlic and grate some ginger – this bit is mainly down to your own taste.
Heat the veg in a pot and then add 1.5L of veg stock.
Boil and then simmer. Soup is ready when veg is soft.As I said it’s on the cooker as I type and I have to say the smell is absolutely fantastic!
